The organizing committee for the 2025 Changzhou Employee Football League convened for a planning meeting on August 25, which was attended by municipal leaders including Fang Guoqiang and Jiang Pengju.
Scheduled to begin in mid-September, the tournament is set to be the largest event of its kind for the city's workforce in recent years. It is designed to be a mass-participation sports festival that celebrates employees and encourages citywide involvement.
This league is a direct implementation of the "Changzhou Football High-Quality Development Three-Year Action Plan (2025-2027)." It aims to promote the determined spirit of unity, perseverance, and responsibility demonstrated by the Changzhou team in the Jiangsu City Football League, and to inspire the city's employees to channel their professional dedication as model workers and craftsmen into the competition. The event is also intended to foster deeper integration between the city's cultural, tourism, sports, and commercial sectors, thereby supporting the successful achievement of the goals outlined in Changzhou's 14th Five-Year Plan.
The league will feature an 11-a-side men's football format and is jointly organized by the Changzhou Trade Union and the Municipal Sports Bureau. The event will be managed by the trade unions, sports authorities from the city's various districts and the Changzhou Economic Development Zone, along with the city's football association. A key innovation this year is the "region + enterprise" model for forming teams, where all players must be current employees working in Changzhou. For the first time, workers in new forms of employment are also eligible to participate. The two-month competition will begin with a group stage where teams are divided into eight groups for a round-robin tournament. The top two teams from each group will then advance to a knockout stage to decide the final champions, runners-up, and third-place winners.
